COSPAS-SARSAT SYSTEM
WHAT IS THE COSPAS-SARSAT SYSTEM ?
The Cospas-Sarsat is a satellite network that revolves low-Earth orbit (LEOSAR) and geostationary orbit (GEOSAR), which also comprises on the ground receiving stations and control centers and coordination. Its mission is to provide a distress alert data with precise homing. This information helps authorities search and rescue (SAR) to provide rapid assistance to people in danger. Since its launch in 1985, the Cospas-Sarsat system has helped save more than 26,000 lives.
A SURVIVAL INSTRUMENT
The Breitling Emergency II is also a COSC certified multifunction chronograph with 12/24-hour analog and digital display, 1/100th second chronograph, alarm, timer, second timezone, multilingual calendar, luminescent hands, sapphire crystal and battery end-of-life indication. The watch is powered by a thermo-compensated SuperQuartz movement and comes in a very complex case made from titanium. The Emergency II is available in three color dials: Black, yellow or orange and comes with a rubber strap or titanium bracelet.
THE INNOVATIVE DUAL FREQUENCY TRANSMITTER
The Emergency II have a microtransmitter alternately operating on two separate frequencies over a 24-hour period. The Emergency II transmits a first digital signal on the 406 MHz frequency intended for satellites and lasting 0.44 seconds every 50 seconds and a second analog signal on the 121.5 MHz homing and rescue frequency, lasting 0.75 seconds every 2.25 seconds.
A WATCH FOR PROFESSIONALS
The Emergency II have uses an antenna that automatically activates the transmitter, while the inscriptions on the watch remind the wearer of the process of releasing the antenna and triggering the transmission. The Emergency II is powered by a rechargeable battery, while a special charger-tester periodically recharges the battery and then automatically checks the smooth operation of the transmitter.
