THE MECHANICAL WONDERS EXHIBITION AT A LA VIEILLE RUSSIE IS EXTENDED UNTIL THE 10TH DECEMBER 2011 DUE TO OUTSTANDING SUCCESS
The Mechanical Wonders Exhibition launched at A La Vieille Russie on 25th October 2011, where 50 objects of art and timepieces from the collection of Maurice Sandoz and the most beautiful masterpieces from Parmigiani Fleurier were displayed.
During three weeks more than 2000 visitors admired the exceptional collection, which was revealed to the public for the first time in over 60 years. Due to the exceptionally high attendance, the exhibition has been extended until the 10 December 2011. Parmigiani Fleurier, renowned as one of the most prestigious contemporary Haute Horlogerie brands, is the co-presenter for the exhibition and to mark its involvement, it has launched two unique timepieces inspired by the Maurice Sandoz collection.
The brand chose to recreate a mechanism found in one of the historic pieces from the collection in tribute to the event - a timepiece featuring telescopic hands that run around the circumference of an oval-shaped dial, a nod to the inventiveness of the master watchmakers of the past.
An exclusive dinner was held at the famed Doubles Club in New York on the evening of the launch, which was attended by Pierre Landolt, President of the Sandoz Foundation; Claude Nobs, founder of the Montreux Jazz Festival; Paul Schaffer, Director of the Gallery A la Vieille Russie; Michel Parmigiani, President of Parmigiani Fleurier; and Jean-Marc Jacot, CEO of Parmigiani Fleurier, as well as invited guests and friends.
Entertainment was provided by singing sensation Roberta Flack, who gave an incredible performance and added to the exclusivity of the evening and the exciting and vibrant atmosphere that was enjoyed by all who attended.
